FCP5 and the GL2, sound and graphics issues
I’m a producer for a small music company creating a lot of web and DVD promotional vids. We have a modest studio, using a Canon GL2. Our problems deal with sound and graphics.
Sound – We need to mic 3 things simultaneously: voice, guitar, computer output sounds. We bought an XLR connector (2 jacks for stereo L+R) and the GL2 also has a 1/8″ mic input on the side. Can we put 2 mics in the XLR’s and separate channels into their respective tracks FCP5? And can we run a 3rd mic into the 1/8″ jack and have it all on tape? Will the camera cut out one or the other?
Graphics – for the life of me I cannot figure out which compression setting to use for graphics. We have interviews that cut back to show animated diagrams created with Motion using still JPEGs. The Motion files look crisp and defined. But when we finally render it to MPEG or burn it on to DVD, it looks pixelated and muddy. What am I doing wrong?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
