  • FCP2 sends entire clip to Soundtrack

I am trying to boost the gain on a clip and take away the noise. I am completely new to Soundtrack and don’t have too much experience using FCP2 (I was a PC guy till recently)

This is what I’ve gotten so far. I used the blade tool to and cut to points on a clip and select it. Then I control + click and with the mouse select “send to” then “Soundtrack Pro Audio File Project.” This loads up Soundtrack Pro and imports the ENTIRE clip (a whole mini dv tape) into a timeline. How do I get FCS2 to just send the portion of a clip I highlight?

    Thanks.

Open a new sequence. Copy only that section to the New sequence then export to SoundTrack it should work fine.

That would technically work, but would be tedious if you’re dealing with multiple clips.

The real method is to check the box that says “Send only referenced media” in the dialog box that pops up when you select the “send to soundtrack audio file project” command. You can even set the duration of your handles, but I always keep the default 10 sec on either side. These are helpful when you’re going to Soundtrack to remove background noise as something on either side of your clip is more likely to contain a few clean seconds of background noise.

You the man Zak. I followed your advice and got it to work just fine. Now its just a matter of playing around with the noise reduction and it will be good to go!

    Hi Richard,

I tried doing this but it still exports the entire clip. However I got it to work by checking the box that reads “send only referenced media”

Thank you so much for your post.

    Alex.
