  • FCP XML into Redcine X FAIL – Can anyone heIp me out?

Posted by Jason Armstrong on August 25, 2011 at 5:33 pm

I have cut a film trailer (using proxies) in FCP 7. I exported an XML (version 5) and tried to import it into Redcine X. Redcine X asks me to double click to link original files. I do a couple and it doesn’t autolink. If I then press ok, Redcine X just shuts off. EVERY TIME.

Can anyone help me out? I want to do a light grade before rendering out and sending for CC.

    Thanks
    J

I use clipfinder in the middle to relink to R3Ds.

Can you tell me how that works? I downloaded version 2.2 but can’t decipher where to go after relinking.

You then export another XML that should open in RCX with files already relinked.

Is this timeline pretty basic? Like cuts only?

I have the pay version (2.5) so maybe there’s a difference in the functionality.

Sorry, I don’t mean to be dense (it just happens): I’m not really sure what I’m doing in this program. Conforming or importing? Ugh. Could you just hit me with a step by step after you have an FCP xml? Would be much appreciated.

    Clipfinder? or RCX?

Clipfinder. I have the timeline output to a FCP xml. Now I want to get it into redcine x but going direct is failing. What do I do with Clipfinder to help me out?

Tools > Run Conform on FCP XML.

    Choose your input XML.

    Choose your output location/name XML.

    Choose replace clips with R3D.

Choose a directory where your r3d files are.

    Click Run Conform.

Seemed to work, but Redcine X still crashed when I clicked ok after opening the xml file.

Re-installing to see if that fixes it.

is this a simple cuts only timeline?

    If not, make it one.

I thought so, but have found I left a couple of fades in and one layered clip. Simplifying. Will update shortly.
