Dissolves usually come in OK (and when I say OK I mean they are ignored in RCX), def needs to be one layer, and no effects.

Ok, that didn’t work. Is there an issue with the footage being spread over two drives? It links one drive fine and then when I manually connect another file and it goes on to relink it just shuts down.

I can open clips by browsing no problem, so Redcine X seems ok… Argh. This is frustrating.

What version of RCX? I guess the two drives could be a reason, but I’m not really sure on that.

See if you can create two separate XMLs with the footage from separate drives in each XML.

Although, when using clipfinder, the footage is already linked. I think something else is amiss here.

After linking the files in clipfinder, do I still use “open FCP xml” in RCX or is there another way of opening the new xml?

No you have to import the XML. Try pointing to the directory on the second drive.

Did you originally log and transfer the R3d files?

Not sure. I inherited the editing job. However, I manually relinked EVERY file that looked for the second drive and it worked. I’d hate to see it go like that for the whole feature.

Once graded in RCX, what’s best to get it back into FCP for re-adding transitions and FX?

BTW, Thanks SO MUCH for hanging out here and helping me out. I REALLY appreciate it.

If you import the XML in a timeline, then grade, then you can export the graded XML after render, or reconnect the graded files in FCP.

You should look in to FCP Reconnect, it makes things easier.

Or use Color do do a grade/conform.
