FCP working with my HVR Z7U as the monitor
How do I set up my HVR Z7U with FCP so that I can view my video clips that are in FCP on my camera’s viewfinder/then send it to my HD monitor. I have my fire wire connected from the Mac computer to the camcorders fire wire input. I can only view video clips in my camera’s viewfinder when FCP is in log and capture mode.
FCP does not seem to recognize the camera when not logging and capturing with it. My guess is I may have to change some setting in the camera it self and or in FCP’s audio video settings. Maybe both. I just have not figured it out as of yet.
Any suggestions?

Won’t work. Not in HD. HDV is too complex and doesn’t work like DV did. FCP 7 will allow it to play out as dv.
