Hi. I have just fully re-installed the OS on my G5 and re-installed Final Cut Studio and done all the latest software updates. I have opened a project using the font ‘Futura Condensed’. The font is in my font book and is recognised by all other apps but FCP is displaying Futura standard which is too wide for the formatting I did in the project. Any ideas on why FCP won’t pick up on the Condensed version? Thanks, Simon.

    Hi,
We have had similar experiences. I assume your using 5.0.X?? The manual says it uses any True Type font, however…

The regular text tool does not recognize the variances in some fonts. One of our widely used fonts is Helvetica Neue, which has many different thicknessess etc. which FCP doesn’t display/allow us to use.

What I suggest is the Boris Text feature which is in that same drop down menu under the source window. That will allow any font you want. Although it sounds like your text is already on the timeline. You’ll have to re-edit Boris Text back in. Sorry.

Hopefully FCP will come up with better text functions. I personally liked the Premiere Pro type feature. Which I guess was a form of Type Deko.

    Good Luck

    -Matt
