I’m scrolling scanned 300dpi text. When scrolled at close-up, the large text is fine, but when scrolled wide, the text which is now small becomes “wobbly”. I blurred slightly at 0.5 and it helped but of course I payed with sharpness. Any ideas?

Read the article on DV titles at https://www.kenstone.net by Philip Hodgetts, will fix you right up… it’s the DV codec that plays havoc with rolling titles…

thanks jerry. I’ll look for it, but I don’t think the problem is in the DV codec. I’m not exporting. The “wobbling” is happening while I’m scrolling the text in FCP.

When you down-size the graphic, is the Scale a whole number? I’ve had some wierdness when the Scale is going from say 43.37 to 84.5. When I’ve changed it to 44 to 85, the jaggy, wobbles disappear.

Thanks john and Jerry too. Ahh, John, you asked about fractions of the numbers and there may be a problem there, especially when I scroll and zoom in or out of the text. I’m going to test scroll with whole numbers, but even if that works I’ll be stuck with the “shaky” zooming problem. I’ve tried everything I can think of like importing the scanned text as TIFF and PiCT instead of JPEG, and even changing the codec in FCP to non compressed sequence. I must have tried more but by now I’m
‘desperately confused”. The ONLY thing that seems to work is blurring the immage in the Effects pannel. Btw, the font itself is okay, not too thin or “artsy”.
