    FCP unable to initialize “deck” (HVR-A1U Sony HDV cam)

    I just purchased a MacPro. For some reason, FCP doesn’t recognize my camera, which I’m using to import footage. My configuration: FW 800 out of LaCie 250 GB drive into FW 800 port on front of MacPro. FW 400 from LaCie to FW port on camera.

    I have been using this sequence:
    computer on
    LaCie on
    Computer on
    open FCP

    Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Try connecting the camera without the FW drive attached. If that works, then add the firewire drive to the mix but don’t loop thru it with the camera.
