  • FCP trying to output viewer instead of timeline/canvas

I’m outputting using the edit to tape function and Firewire basic DV deck.

I’ve put in a tape, striped the front, entered an in point on the tape.

When i hit assemble, it tries to output the clip that’s sitting in the viewer instead of the timeline.

    Anyone know what’s causing this?

    thanks.

That’s the way the application works. It always edits from the Viewer. Whatever clip you have loaded in the Viewer is used for whatever edit function you execute, replace, superimpose, overwrite, insert, doesn’t matter. Want to edit a sequence into another sequence or onto tape load it into the Viewer. Just drag it there, or drag it from the browser to assemble in the edit overlay, just like a clip.

    All the best,

    Tom

Trash the FCP Preferences using “FCP Rescue” available as a free download here
