FCP to Blu-ray with Menu

My goal is to create a Blu-ray with a standard menu. I’m used to DVDSP, but it may not be the right program for this. Here is what I understand when going from FCP to Blu-ray. Tell me if I missing something…

Edit DVCPROHD 720P footage
Export FCP sequence to .mov
Use Compressor, create MPEG-2, stream usage Blu-ray, video format 720P

From here I’m not sure where to go. I have DVDSP and Adobe’s Encore. What program should I use to create a menu and to master and author this thing?

Adobe Encore is your best bet if you want Menu navigation with Bluray.
Otherwise, you can burn a basic BD on Mac with Toast.

DVDSP will not do Blu-ray.

As Chris said, you could use Encore or Toast (but you must make sure you have the BD option).

If you have Final Cut Studio 3, you can author very basic Blu-ray discs with template-driven menus right from Compressor by using a Job Action. See Job Actions [link] in the manual for more information.

Thanks Walter for your reply. I did know about the basic template menus compressor can do for bluray, I was just wanting something more customized. I haven’t used encore very much, but I’ll give it a try. Is Toast a better program to invest in and best for authoring than encore? What are the benefits? I’m looking into a few external Bluray drives from Lacie, and one comes bundled with a copy of Toast.

Toast is pretty limited, too. If you need anything more than the most basic menu, Encore is the way to go.

If you need to do more serious Blu-ray production, you’ll have to look to a PC-based solution like NetBlender DoStudio.
