So I shot a documentary a few months back with a sony ex1. since the sxs cards are expensive, i had to rotate through them frequently and saved my footage (43 hours) to a 1tb g-drive. this footage was hdxd ex format 1080i 24p. i then used xdcam transfer software through finalcut to transfer these files to another drive so that i could edit in fcp. After realizing that it would probably take me 3 years to complete the project while working a full time job, we ended up raising some meager funds for a proper editor. my problem now is that my orginal drive has failed and is unusable so all my footage only exists on my final cut drive and my new editor cuts on avid. Will i scare her off if i reveal this? or is converting the the footage take a similar amount of time as using xdcam transfer? Is there anything i can do without having avid in preperation to ease the burden and my budget?

    Offer her some pot?

    lol
seriously, man I dunno, other than paying her by the hour. Under the circumsatnces, it sounds like a fine time for her to cut her teeth on FCP. I think it will end up saving you some time.
