FCP timeline toggle like Sony Vegas
Any hard core Sony Vegas/FCP users? I’m naturally a Sony Vegas 8c editor and I’m learning FCP 7 and having a little difficulty with some things that I love and am used to in Vegas.
I’m able to change most of my shortcuts to match the shortcuts that I use quite a bit on Sony Vegas. The most important thing to me is being able to open and close the timeline audio and video tracks to zoom out and show the whole timeline and zoom in to see waveform clearly with the quickness of my mouse toggle. I can’t for the life of me find a way to tell my mouse toggle to open and close the timeline for FCP. The only option I see on FCP is shift z to fit to window.
Anyone else like the use of the timeline toggle on Vegas and has found a way to have the same effect on FCP?

That’s actually not a great way to learn FCP. When you start working with other FCP editors, you want to know the standard way of operating in FCP, not your own specialized way. We always tell folks coming from other systems, adjust your workflow to FCP, don’t try to turn FCP into something else.

Thank you Walter, I’ll take your advice (cursing the whole way). I love love love my Sony Vegas, hoping to love FCP the same way but it’s been trying as I am discovering that FCP is much more time consuming than Vegas.
