    Hello Fellow Editors,

I have an issue with FCP Ver. 6 with the text generator, I’ve done some German subtitles for a clients documentary film and the background of the film flickers every time there on the screen. I am using Helvetica CY as my font face at 32 size white with a black outline. I have also used the outline text feature to put all the titles on a separate track. Should I de-interlace just the type and or apply a Gaussian blur of 7 would those two things help? I did an output of film to Apple 4:2:2 HQ as my CODEC of choice then, noticed the flicker when the subtitles come up. Any help on this would be most appreciated! Thanks!

Is the flicker on the background image or the subtitles? Have you checked in the motion tab that the subtitle is placed on whole numbers not sub pixel. By that I mean when you look at the height and width placement values in the motion tab are they whole numbers or decimals?

If decimal then round the numbers to whole numbers and render again to see if that fixes things. Also make sure the levels and chroma are within legal spec which they should be. There is no point in deinterlacing anything, particularly a text generator which has both fields identical unless they animate in some way.
