fcp templates?
Posted by Dave Lusk on January 4, 2011 at 4:42 amGuys,
i would like to know where the best place to get master templates or really cool graphics would be that is compatible with fcp? i own a hunting tv show on direct tv, i don’t do the editing right now, but am trying to learn. I see some shows that just wow you. Where do they get their special effects for their show?? do they buy them? have them created?

January 4, 2011 at 8:51 amFinal Cut Pro does not really work via templates. The closest thing would me Motion templates or DVD Studio Pro templates.
Since you are looking for graphics templates I suggest that you look for templates to Motion or After Effects.

January 4, 2011 at 12:34 pmCheck out https://www.finalcutprotemplates.com They have a few packs you can buy that are Motion Master Templates and they work inside FCP as drag and drop templates. I own all of them and use them. You can see a few of em in the promos for a fishing show that I work on at: vimeo.com/tonysvideo

Most shows that you see are created from scratch by very talented graphic artists using after effects and motion. There are a few 3rd party companies that sell AE and Motion templates.

I’m with Steve. Generic templates have their place, and it’s probably not branding your show.
A show’s broadcast graphics are its visual signature, and should be an instantly recognizable part of its identity. Having a broadcast package designed specifically for your show by a professional motion design or branding firm will get you graphics that look cool and actively reinforce your show’s brand and point of view.
Graphics packages like this can be designed as templates, with some fixed key graphical elements and some editable elements (usually text).

January 4, 2011 at 2:49 pmOh, I totally agree with all of you! Best to either learn AE or Motion and create an awesome, signature, graphics set. OP was asking where to find templates and the ones I suggested are great for that. If you don’t have the time or budget to buy and learn complicated software like AE or buy a custom graphics package, templates can be great for a kickstart. I’ve used the templates and put titles into them, w/ alpha, and achieved some really nice stylistic results! The fishing show I work on from time to time has little to no budget, like most small fishing and hunting shows, so templates that can be re-worked and re-used are nice to have. Just trying to help. Of course you can buy a few specific templates but usually one can cost between $40-100 and these packs are only $80-100 and you get a ton, in all resolutions. I’ve been learning After Effects and that’s THE way to go if you’ve got the cash and time. Just tryin to help and figured that was what they were lookin for.
