  • FCP Studio 2 install fails on G4 1.42 GHZ Dual

Posted by Bruce Stubblefield on July 6, 2008 at 8:08 pm

    Hello,
Editing a project shot on Mini-DV NTSC; Trying to use a G4 Dual Processor as a second machine (have an 8-core for more advanced tasks). Trying to install Final Cut Studio 2 on the G4 1.42 GHZ Dual, OS 10.4.11 with 2GB RAM and a ATI Radeon 9000 Pro Graphics card, and lots of room on the drives.

On inspection, the installer says: “The installed graphics card does not support the Open GL features recommended by Final Cut Studio installer.” (hardware listed detailed below.) It goes ahead and installs anyway, but crashes instantly when I open it.

Any ideas? Does anyone know what kind of AGP card that will work in this G4 that will satisfy the installer?

    Many thanks
    Bruce S.

Try switching the display to the outer (or just try the other) DVI connection on the card. I have seen this on a number of systems-
