  • FCP sequence settings

I used the Canon 7D and shot at 60fps.

What is the proper sequence settings in FCP?

I shot in 60 in case I decide to use some shots in slow motion at full quality.

I believe this is 720 HD.

    Thanks for the help!

Step #1 – Convert to ProRes. Use Log and Transfer (tutorial):

Or use MPEG STREAMCLIP. But you must convert.

If you shot 720p60 for use as slow motion, then you need to edit in a frame rate that is LESS than that for normal speed. 29.97 or 23.98. What frame rate you choose is dependent on what your final output will be. And really, you should have shot the frame rate you wanted for the normal speed stuff…720p24 (23.98) is an option on that camera too.

If I were you, and I was going to the web or DVD, I’d use 720p 29.97. Because you can remove the pulldown evenly from 60 to 30.

Oh, and for slow motion, watch this tutorial:

    According to this link:
    https://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/E7D/E7DVIDEO.HTM

The 7D does not shoot at the same resolution in 24 FPS as it does at 30FPS.

    I don’t see a 720P 24 FPS option.

This project is based just for the web. So I’ll use 29.97

Will this work for sequence settings:

    Frame size 960 x 720 — Menu option HD 960 x 720 16:9
    Pixel Aspect Ration HD 960 x 720
    Field Dominance Upper
    Timebase 30
    Compressor HDV 720p30

That camera shoots two formats at 720…720p24 and 720p60. There is no 720p30 option. I’m looking at the menu right now.

NO! No no no no no no no no no no no! HDV is BAD BAD BAD idea. PRORES. Convert the footage to ProRes, and use a ProREs sequence.
