    Hi All,

Has anybody got any really good tips on speeding up the rendering of FCP? I have recently shot some seminars on a Sony PMW EX1. Each part is approx 1 hour 10 mins. Once edited, I then send to a Final Cut Pro QT movie. This takes around 2 hours even on the latest Mac pro 2 x 2.26 Ghz 8 gig of ram etc. Nothing to do but twiddle thums whilst this is happening! Cheers

Your EX1 shoots in a long-GOP format. If you want to speed up your renders, you can switch your timeline settings to an i-frame format like ProRes or uncompressed. Other than that, your best bet is a faster Mac.

What type of drive are you using to store your media on and how is it conected to the computer.

There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.

    Dear Zane,

I think I have to be patient. I am using either the second internal drive of the Mac Pro or external 1 terrabyte La Cie’s.

    Cheers Roger
