a lot of times ill close fcp 5.12 and it will crash rather than completing the complete quit process. it mainly happends when im working in a huge project. ive deleted preference files but it doesnt seem to help I find avid much more stable, anyone having these crash while quitting issues? thanks

Ugh!!! Oh dear, not the Avid comparison again…

I have found FCP to be exceedingly stable. The problem you have indicates that something is wrong somewhere, it is not a normal FCP attribute. I would suggest that you open a new project and copy the bins and the essential sequences to the new project. Clsoe the original project and see how FCP behaves with just the new project open. You may just find all is well…

In all honesty, its not really about that. I promise you, even though I’m not rich, I could be cutting on just about any NLE there is, but FCP works, so I use it. If it didn’t, I would have sold my FCP system within ten days of purchase. As it is, I’ve been working on it for 19 months without a hitch.

The secret is, you must read everything you can here on the Cow so that you know what to expect before it happens to you. Everyone occasionally asks for help when they really need it, but the wisest people here already have the solutions to most of their problems, because someone else has usually enountered that problem already.

You can take that to the bank…
