    Kinda new to this…
Can I, instead of sending a betacamSP master, send 1 min of an edited segment on a compact disk? Will the broadcast quality hold up? It’s for another editor to use on a TV show.

if you export it as uncompressed then that 1 minute clip should fit on a blank DVD, and if its uncompressed it’s broadcast quality!

The term “broadcast quality” really doesn’t mean much in the industry today. I am assuming that what you want to know is if you can export and burn to disc without losing any quality. Correct?

The answer is yes. FILE>EXPORT>QUICKTIME, current settings, Make Movie Self contained. This will preserve the original quality without any loss.

The ammount of time you can fit in a DVD (better forget about CDs) depends of the quality with whichs you capture your Betacam footage.
To give you an idea, if you capture 10b Uncompressed (very good quality), you can fit in a data DVD a bit less than 3 minutes footage. If you capture DV you can fit around 20 minutes.
8b Uncompressed would be a good codec for capturing Betacam. Although the codec-quality depends of what you want to do later with the images.
