I have an FCP project file, that just won’t open completely (nor will backup project files and autosaves).

It starts to open and pauses at 42%… goes non-responsive for a few minutes and then continues as if things are okay. Once everything appears to open, I get the spinning wheel-of-death that just stays for hours until I give up. I can see the open project file and timeline, bins, etc. but end up force-quitting after an hour or so of FCP “not responding”.

FWIW– Yesterday, I was able to open it once by opening a very small project and then the larger. But once I started working on it, after just a click or two, the death wheel returned and was non-responsive. I’ve tried to reopen this same way (and other ways too… usually by repeating c’mon, c’mon, c’mon) but now only really small projects open.

Any suggestions for a workaround to get it open?

    Try deleting the preference files.
