There are some very basic workflow problems that I’m having as a result of the switch from Avid to FCP 6.0.1

    The top 3 are:

    1. I need to find which sequences highlight a particular clip so I know if and how many times it’s been used.

    2. when I trim, I’m used to being able to just select a track (audio or video, and I want them to act independently but still let me know if I’m off sync) and move it back and forth with keyboard shortcuts. I can do this in FCP but when I get to the last frame it gives me the error msg: “media limit on V1” or whatever track I’m on. So there’s always this orphan frame that fcp won’t let me trim without somehow using my mouse. it’s driving me bananas. Does it have to do with heads/tails frame settings?

    3. in Avid I use ‘extend edit’ constantly. I just set an in or out point, clear the other point, hit extend and the cut jumps to my in/out point. I see something called extend edit in fcp but so far it’s been greyed out and hasn’t acted the way I expect. anything similar I can do in fcp?

I apologize for the scope and wordiness of this–I’m just trying to do a lot in a few days with software I’m less-than-perfect on.

    Thanks
    t
