    Hey guys,

very quick question – Can you open an Final Cut pro (version 7) project in Final Cut express, either by project or XML? If so, what are the limitations or workflow? What is the version of Express you have to have to receive FCP 7? If XML, what interchange format do I need to use?

Appreciate a quick response. Could find an answer elsewhere. Thx!

No. FCE won’t open FCP projects, and FCE lacks XML export/import.

In older versions of FCE (I don’t know about the latest one) you can import XML, though there is no menu entry or any mention of this in the manual.
Drag the XML with “force open” cmd-option to the FCE icon.
