FCP-Panasonic HVX200 and 1080p 24fps HELP!!!!!!
Hello all, Im new here and I need some help. That being said I have recently upgraded to the new FCP Studio on a Imac quad core and Im shooting with a Panasonic HVX200 and a FS100 drive. Im trying to get all of my settings correct I want to shoot 1080P 24 fps, but I understand that FCP has a problem with this and I cant seam to find to much info on it. now the camera settings are 1080i 24p for some reason thats the way it was named, but i read that that is shooting 1080p (is that true?) also I read that using the 1080i 24pA setting was the way to go and to just use remove advanced pulldown and duplicate frames when logging and transfering my footage. Is any of that close to correct? and will it give me the 1080p 24fps i want? ( i have shot allot of b-roll footage in the 1080i 24pA and would like to use it)
Please help!! Also I am not very experienced in the tech end of this so please do not assume that i understand the terminology

This is not a problem with FCP. this is a limitation of the DVCPro HD codec. I think this is explained in your camera’s manual.
If you shoot 24PA, FCP can remove the pulldown when you use Log & Transfer to import the footage.

Any particular reason you have to shoot 1080 24p? FWIW, the 720pN 24 frame mode produces images that are nearly indistinguishable from the higher-res versions, and at a bandwidth that’s closer to DV. And it drops right into an FCP timeline, quick and easy, no pulldown necessary.

Thank you for your reply to my post. And the reason is the client requires 1080p24fps….no other reason
I am aware that this is not a FCP problem, but I didnt see an area for Hvx2oo is there one?????Thanks again

You should be able to shoot 1080 24pA on the HVX, then remove the pulldown and then use a FCP 1080 23.98 timeline. Let me know if you have any trouble with this – I haven’t used this workflow before, but it should work!

I do have problem with the pulldown and deinterlace the material shot with HVX200 at 1080i 24p. Would you please let me know how do you make the pulldown and deinterlace in FCP Studio 6. I have a project that has been shot on 1080p 24p all the way for 5 months and in the last few weeks we had an extra 3 cameras (HVX200) shooting 1080i 24p. I need to make it work with the rest of the material. Thank you very much

Hello all thanks for the Great advise worked very well just had one little snag a few of the clips although viewable in the log and transfer window would not import can’t figure out why tried almost everything no luck.
Also I’m gonna run this by you guys I have a firestore 100 drive. Should I just capture 1080 24p in QuickTime format? Firedrive seams to have that ability. Well I’m gonna do some tests on that and if any of yah have info on it please let me know. Thanks Paul
