    Hi all,
I am trying to import some P2 MXF files through LOG AND TRANSFER but nothing happens when i select the folder to import.
I have ALL the files & folders from the P2 card (AUDIO, VIDEO, VOICES the TXT file etc.) On the other hand, when i try a simple IMPORT, it lets me select and import the MXFs directly but without audio. I must import the audio separately. I believe it has to do with a .component of quick time because i can also preview these MXF files.

As for other software, i have installed the SONY XDCAM MXF Transfer utility, but i dont think it has something to do with that.

My problem is not that big, but think when i have 100 or more clips to import i must import the audio separately.

    Any ideas? I am stuck.

Do you have FX Factory installed? Early versions of that (1.0, 2.0) interefered with P2 import. 2.0.2 update fixed that.

The fact that you can import them without audio means that you have something installed that allows access to the MXF files. P2CMS perchance? That won’t bring in the footage with audio/video tied.

And here is my other stock answer:

#36 – One or More P2 files failed to import.

Shane’s Stock Answer #36 – “One or more clips failed to import…”

Very often in the field with this camera the camera operator will delete clips from the P2 card that they just don’t like. That is the beauty of this camera. But, the still for that video file (located in the CLIP folder in the CONTENTS folder)…the still that you see when you are in the P2 Import window…is not deleted. So you will see the image, and the name, but the video file would have been deleted.

What you can do it compare the file names in the VIDEO folder and CLIP folder and see if anything is missing. If something is, then you know what the problem is. You can then just import the rest a few at time, skipping that one.

ALSO…in the P2 Import window…in the P2 Browser, there is a little sprocket drop down menu. Click on that and choose PREFERENCES. Uncheck REMOVE PULLDOWN and then try importing again.

ALSO…make sure your file names aren’t too long. Try shortening them and see if that works.

ALSO make sure that the folders that contain the CONTENTS folder doesn’t have any odd characters like /!@#$%^&*()?.

    Thanx a lot Shane.
1st of all, FxFactory is installed and as i can remember, its for sure earlier than 2.02 version. I will have to get the update for that.

P2CMS, nop that doesnt ring any bells.

I will try the other solution, unchecking the REMOVE PULLDOWN under PREFERENCES and see what happens.
I will do this first thing tomorrow at work.

Thank you. I will let you know.

2 minds are better than one.

Ahhh…if you have FX Factory that that is the issue. Update or remove and that will solve your problem.
