FCP not acknowleding P2 media
Final Cut Pro is refusing to open my media in the log and transfer window. When I select the folder that’s holding my media, no files show up in the window and I am unable to import.
Before you even think it, this has nothing to do with the file/folder structure of my media. Standard P2 folder structure is in tact, and I am currently importing my media using my old powerbook. However, since my powerbook is on its last legs, and I am always using my macbook pro, i want to resolve this issue quickly.
I’m running FCP 6.0.2 on a intel macbook pro with leopard, and I have successfully imported p2 media on this machine before. I have installed some new after effects plugins that are loading up in FCP when i open, as well as drivers for REDCODE, although I have no idea if either of these things would cause this problem. **I do not have FxFactory installed, which i know creates problems.
Anyone run into this? Thoughts?

Disable networking. Like turn off AIRPORT and unplug the ethernet cable. Sometimes FCP’s L&T will take a LOOOOOOOONG time finding a P2 cards contents with networking on. Like it appears to be searching the entire network before it decides to finally load the card.

Try removing the RED codec, my MBP will not ingest P2 media with this installed. Take it out and all is fine.

yeah, i think you’re right about it being the red codec.
How do i remove it?
Is there a way to disable it temporarily so that when I am working with redcode i can enable quickly instead of reinstalling?

The same thing is happening to me. Log & Transfer will not recognize any media. The bizarre thing is if I create a copy of the P2 folder onto a different drive and select that folder it Final Cut WILL recognize it, THE FIRST TIME. If I close the window, and attempt to select the exact same folder, no media appears.
I do not have the RED codec installed, I do, however have FX factory.

I dub transferred my p2 media onto and external drive and FCP recognizes my media from the external. But, when I copy both the contents folder and the last clip file (together) to another drive in an assigned folder, FCP log and transfer will not recognize the media. As for the red plug-in, it doesn’t exist on my computer so it can’t be the problem.
Any Ideas? It would be a huge help.
