FCP .mov into Avid
My colleague has converted footage from a Sony EX-1 using XDCAM transfer software into FCP, but unfortunately he didn’t facilitate for the fact that our clients are editing on AVID. I’ve been tasked with converting the footage into a format that can be easily read in AVID.
So far I’ve tried the DNxHD codec, but without great results. What makes the situation difficult is that I can’t try out files on the clients’ edit suite, only on my own companies Avid Xpress Pro 5.8.
The files I’m looking to convert are:
1280 x 720
XDCAM EX 720p25
35MBsI’d like to give the client the footage back in HD if possible, although they are eventually putting it onto Digi Beta so if I really have to I might be able to get away with SD.
Is exporting from FCP the best option or should I purchase some actual file conversion software?
Cheers.
Adam
