I have been using FCP for years and this is the first time I have experienced this problem with the log and transfer option.

I am importing footage taken from a panny HPX170 as usual into FCP 7 and it imported all of my footage except for two very important clips of which it gave the little red exclamation sign. I hit “retry” and nothing. I restarted and tried again, still the same error.

I had to free the space up on my P2 cards so I copied the raw data onto the same HD as my project file to try again later. Still… the same error. I am able to view the clip in the log and transfer window with audio and everything but it will not log and transfer the 2 files. It wont even tell me what the exact error is.

any help would be much appreciated.

Try turning off the ‘remove advanced pulldown/dupe frames” option in the l&t prefs.

Are the clips spanned by chance?

    Do they load in p2cms?

they are not spanned according to the L&T

I am not familiar with P2CM, is that something I can download and try out for free?

    Yes, from panasonic.

Load all the clips and check for an ‘X’ on any of the clips

Ok so I downloaded version 1.4.9 of P2CM and whenever I try and ingest my data the program just crashes.

I am able to see there is a big blue exclimation point on the same clips though, just like in FCP.

    any help?

    [rand courtney] “any help?”

Seems like those clips need to be repaired. I would try putting that back on to a P2 card and repairing the clips in camera.

Is there a tutorial on how to reload onto P2 cards and repair? I have never done this before.

Not that I know of. I am sure you can search the P2 forum and get all the step by steps.

Basically, use USB to connect the camera to a mac, camera has to be in USB mode.

    Drag CONTENTS folder to card.

Disconnect camera and reboot the camera.

Go in to thumbnail mode, find the bad clips and use the menu to repair clip.

I tried dragging contents back onto the P2 and that doesnt work, I also tried copying and pasting, nothing.

I dont see much online about this procedure except using P2CM…but we know I have issues already with that program.

Anyone have any links to something more concrete?
