I run a G5 lab with fcpHd of 15 stations, recently put on an Xserve. We have 2 internal HD’s, and a mercure 7200 external HD. HD1 is over 50% full of apps; HD2 is completely vacant, (120Bg) for storage, as is Mercury externals (120B). This seems like plenty of storage….
We save our project files on a seperate drive than our media files…..and have tried several combinations, with problems.

Our network admin is copying over the contents of the students home folders every time they log in….or out. So, even though we are not “saving” during work-sessions to the server….those files do get copied over daily, and re-copied login and out.

We’ve been unable to save projects from day to day, and we are not moving locations of project files nor media files(scratch)…

Is this due to the copying back and forth of home folder to server?……

we have 400GB drive for entire class; seems insufficient……

any ideas?………I’m saying, dedicated server in our lab, only…..with fast HD, and RAID……thanks…..
