    Hi,

I’m new to HDV editing. I am working on some travel videos and was given about 2 hours of HDV from A Sony HDV-FX1. My question is in a couple parts. What settings should I use for capturing footage? And also what sequence settings should I set for my project? Also, when I go to edit will the entire project have to constantly be re-rendering or if the setting are right will that not be necesaary?

Use the same settings it was shot with for capture and your sequence, the sony FX1 shoots 1080i60 so pick that from the easy setups and you will be fine.

You wont have to render much at all unless you are changing speed, adding filters etc, however once you are done and want to export you will need to conform.

The fist thing to do is go read the article in the last issue of Creative Cow Magazine about HDV, its a free magazine and when you subscribe to it it will let you download a PDF of the last issue.

I wish that the cow would just permanently post that article about HDV it is so useful.
