Just fyi, you don’t need to spend the extra money to get the 1080 resolution. We have the $1,600 50″ model which is native 720 resolution and it displays 1080 beautifully.
[Dean Brennan] “Do you think this is a good resolution in terms of quality for the price compared to buying a TV Logic for $8,000?”
No, you cannot compare the TV Logic and Panny Plasma. The TV Logic is sharper and is completely color accurate as it is a true studio color grading monitor. The Panny needs to be calibrated to match up with whatever your “correct” monitor is. The Panny is an excellent second monitor or if your budget just doesn’t allow, it can serve as a primary HD monitor as well, just no idea how you would calibrate it without a proper color grading monitor in the same room.
The TV Logic also displays outstanding SD as well, the Panny does not.
You want to be at least 5 feet away from the 50″ models, 10 feet is the minimum recommended distance.

September 25, 2008 at 6:25 pmThank you for the response. I am going to spend a little more time researching this before I come to a final decision. I will be sure to post what I end up purchasing and how I like it.
