I have just updated the Kona3 driver to 5.1 after suffering countless crashes when i try to edit to tape.

After installing the update, i tried to open FCP,and almost right away it started giving me messages “The movie file xxxx cannot be found . Without this file, the movie cannot play properly”. It offers the choice of cancel or search….but if the finder can’t find what it wants how on earth will I?

Its doing this for hundreds of files, and i have a feeling its going to do this everytime i start up FCP.

I don’t understand why its asking for this stuff either, as i haven’t asked it to access any of these movies?

    Whats going on?

Seems like I can’t find files used in Quicktime reference movies. Look at your scratch and render disk location. AJA upgrades often mess with the FCP preferences.

    What OS are you on?

If on 10.5.2, you should be running 5.1 NDD.

i’ve seen no compelling reason to jump to 10.5 yet, so i’m still on 10.4.11.

After the initial startup problems, it has been behaving. I’m hoping that its sorted itself out!!

And you have your PCIe slots configured properly?

We’re running 10.4.11 where I’m at, and went with the 5.1 NDD drivers also. I would definitely double-check AJA.com to be sure you’ve got the correct driver. Also, when we first installed, we did it from a separate Administrator account, and ran into quite a few issues with the account used for editing. Capturing issues, viewing on an external monitor, editing to tape, you name it. We had to uninstall the drivers and re-install from the account used for editing. The strange thing is that having done this, both accounts now work fine.

It might be worth playing around with different accounts if you continue to have issues.
