    Hello,

I’m a using FCP to edit my reel. I want to add footage from a feature I DPed. Instead of downloaded every single clip to a hard drive, I was wondering if there is a way to take a movie file then relate it to the original clips in the sequence. That way I am only downloading the good takes and reducing the amount of time spent going through every clip. I also want to make sure I get the original clip so I have the highest resolution to work from.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,
    Tarina

You can use QT to make a preselection of the stuff from your feature.
Open the movie with QT Player (Pro needed) and set IN and OUt points. Copy and paste the selections to a new window. When finished you can “Save..” your movie as a Reference or Self-contained.

Try using the media manager. There should be a way to transfer only the used footage (with handles).

Personally, I would keep all the footage together, since you never know how you’re going to want to re-edit your reel in the future.
