    hi
after completing my project, i export it into a quick time movie, i check self contained so that i can copy the entire movie in to another machine. after exportation, i get 3 files, one .mov file, the others av.mov1 & 2. with a fcp icon.

my problem is i cant copy only the mov file, i have to copy also the other two files, otherwise the entire movie does not play.

i thought if you choose self-contained, i should get one single file which should play anywhere, so what is the problem?

    please help
    thanks

That problem is indicative of a hard drive that has not been properly formatted from the FAT32 format, set at the factory, to Mac format. FAT32 has a 4Gb file size limitation, so your export is being truncated into several smaller files.

You need to copy everything on that drive to another, then reformat it using Apple Disk Utility.
