    FCP Edit to Tape: no audio in assemble/insert, but fine with preview?

    This has been doing my head in all morning… Trying to lay an HD sequence off to DigiBeta through a Matrox MX02 (which does the downconversion) from FCP (7.0.3) but it keeps laying off video without audio.

    This happens both in assemble and insert edit modes, but preview mode plays out audio as it should be. I did change the sequence audio from channel grouped to stereo downmix, which fixed it for a little while, now the issue’s back.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks Dave, you were spot on. Trashed Final Cut Suite preferences and repaired Mac Drive permissions. Hey presto, it’s working as it should. Right, now I have to catch up on the lost day’s work.

    Just to update, that fix was only temporary. In the end it turned out to be a Matrox firmware issue: since that’s been updated the issue’s gone away
