FCP Does Not Recognize FX1 Firewire Connection

I have OS X 10.4.8
PowerPC G5 w/ dual 2 GHz
1 GB ram
FCP 5.0.4
Deck is the Sony FX1 – HDV to DV
Using a Lacie 160 GB external drive connected to G5

FX1/Deck Settings:
VCR HDV/DV HDV
COMPONENT 1080i/480i
iLINK CONV ON (HDV to DV)
TV TYPE 16 X 9
A/V to DV OUT OFF

FCP Settings:
Easy Setup: DV Anamorphic

Don’t plug in the camera while the application is running. Quit the app, start the camera, launch the app. Doesn’t the camera need to be in DV mode if you’re downconverting? Try daisychaining through the drive or removing the drive. I’m assuming it not on a separate card.

I tried starting up FCP and then plugging in the camera/deck. Nothing.

I had removed the external drive…no effect.

The camera is set to downconvert from HDV to DV and it does so.

Still stumped.

One of my clients had this problem and they had to go into the Receipts folder and get rid of all but the lastest Quicktime receipt. That fixed the problem.

No. The other way around. Camera first plugged in and correct. Trash your preferences. Start FCP set DV NTSC Anamorphic.
