    this is for a music video online with 150 greenscreen background replacement shots. my timeline was created using Automatic Duck OMF importer, all the clip and sequence settings match, but when I introduce the cross dissolves to the uncompressed VFX shots, the images shifts up and back down at the beginning and end of the dissolve. it doesn’t happen on every transition but most.
    what’s up with that?

    that should be the dyamic preview at work.

    mark in and out a small segment that has the problem.

    export it to a quicktime file.

    Play the quicktime, the shift should not be there.

    Rendering ALL on the timeline does not always cure it but an export usually does.

    Have you checked your handles, you need to import with long enough handles to accomadate the cross fade duration.

    [Borjis] “that should be the dyamic preview at work.”

    If it’s not the dynamic preivew, it could be an RGB to YUV issue. What codec is the footage? What codec is your timeline? Check the timeline settings to see if you’re set to RGB or YUV processing.

    Make sure all options are checked off in your render drop down menu, especially “Full”

    Sequence => Render => Full and/or Sequence => Render All=> Full

    this should get you going.

    FCP’s render settings default has “Full” checked off in both the “Render All” drop-down and “Render Selection”. With this option not checked you will notice shifts when dissolving from GFX files to video and back.. amongst other subtle things.
