I’ve searched the cow quite a bit and have yet to find an answer… I was working in FCP 5.12, needed to open a project I had worked on a couple of weeks ago, went to open the settings file to change dig settiings, and got the spinning beach ball. I tried to force quit, it took 2 times to do so, but the FCP icon in the doc still had an arrow showing it still active. Shut down, trashed preferences, repaired permissions, opened the project, tried the same thing and got the same response. Next time around same thing, only FCP wouldn’t open, it would hang part way through the open sequence. OK, reinstalled FCP, tried to open it once more and same problem. Double clicked on the FCP app to try again, and got an eror “-600) I’m running 1.2 tb huge array, and an external firewire drive, using a BM Decklink for capture, and have had no problems in the recent past. Suggestions?

Thanks, I just tried that, same thing. FCP gets as far as asking me for a default setting, and then the spinning ball. I’ve backed up the files, I’m going to nuke the system drive and re-install, as I don’t know what else to do. I did a system install last night (archive the current sytem folder) with no change at all. All external drives are off. wierd…
