FCP Chromakey and HD
Posted by Mike Schrengohst on October 21, 2005 at 11:32 pmDoes FCP have a decent keyer or will I need to stick with AE for keying? I am analyzing different systems and trying to decide if Apple and FCP are the future of HD editing??

Boris Continuum Filters are what I’m using for an HD series here. Excellent keyer with good choker and clean up mattes as well.
FCP is excellent for editing all flavors of HD.

We’ve been using the Ultimatte “AdvantEdge”. It’s a rather expensive plug in for FCP, but it generates absolutely awesome “one click” keys. Worst case scenarios like thin frizzy hair cut through cleanly and precisely.
However, render times for HD will be long. For that matter, render times for any of these keying filters will be long in true HD space.
