  • FCP Capture from HDV 480i/30p?

Posted by James Holdridge on June 9, 2010 at 7:23 pm

I am trying to properly capture from 3 HDV tapes of the same event. I am using a Sony GV-HD700 deck.

All 3 tapes were shot on Panasonics.
    DVX100
    DVX100A
    HDX200

The DP said they were all set to 480i/30p.

When I easy setup and capture, the image seems to be significantly stretched and cut off at the sides. And when I try to specify various HDV settings I get a pop-up that claims my settings are incorrect for my deck. There are no settings that specify 480i.

What specific capture settings should I be using in FCP?

    I’ve never captured from HDV.

    Thanks!

You do not have HDV tapes, you have DV tapes. Use DV presets. for the 30p you change the field dominance to none.
