(Also note i bought this computer about 3 Months ago to do Project from Home when needed)For some reason FCP keeps crashing on me during the project load up. The Project is 5.2 MB in size, roughly a 27 minute video working of a Western Digital 4 TB External Hard Drive. This fist few edits made it to the time like without a hitch, but as i progressed further into the project using 1 timeline when i hit about the 15 minutes of (Half way marker) i started getting “The application Final Cut Pro quit unexpectedly” crashes. When this started i noticed that the little pictures on the clips in the timeline would load up slowly one at a time even after the Loading Bar for the project was done, and when it would get to certain clips (ones i had already edited and had no problem with tell i hit the Half way Marker) would choke up and crash FCP. Now this Load up was slow enough that i could then find where FCP was choking up cut out those clips and FCP would then skip over the newly created whole and continue loading without a problem. I’d then created a new sequence paste the 3-4 clips that was choking up the load and crashing FCP to this new sequence let them load up without a problem copy them again and paste them back in the Master timeline where i could then return back to editing the rest of the project. When i finished the project and i had to scroll back through to make sure the project was 100% complete i’d run into the same problem, the little pictures on the clips would load slowly and if it hits an area where FCP would choke it would then proceed to crash and give me a “The application Final Cut Pro quit unexpectedly.” I had to eventually Cut the Master into 7 Different section to fix this problem and some Seconds i had to zoom way out so the little pictures on the Clips wouldn’t even be visible so they’d never load. How ever this makes it nearly impossible to make Fine edits and becomes a nunsense. This problem also only occurs only when i work off this computer from home. When i work on the studio computer at the office i’ve never encounter this issue before.
Studio Computer:
Model: Mac Pro
Processor: Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Processor Speed: 3 GHz
# of Processors: 2
# of Cores: 8
Memory: 9 GB (2x 512 MB DDR2 FB-DIMM 4x 2GB DDR2 FB-DIMM)
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GTThe first thing that comes to mind with this issue is Memory, and I wanted to see if anyone could shine a light on this issue or if my thoughts are correct and a simple upgrade in memory will fix my issue. Or if something less expensive would help my issue. Please any thoughts or concerns regarding this issue would be much appreciated.
