  • FCP 7, Share feature will not export, compressor does not submit job

    SET UP:
    OSX 10.6.2 ,

    Model Name: iMac
    Model Identifier: iMac11,1
    Processor Name: Intel Core i7
    Processor Speed: 2.8 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 4

    OUTBOARD DRIVE: 2TB G-RAID

I’m in Film School and this problem is really beginning to drag me down in class (ON LINE PROGRAM)

    ———–

When I try to use the SHARE feature in FCP 7, the export button does not execute the function.

    FILE>SHARE>FILE NAME>(destination) DESKTOP>

The export button is glowing but does nothing when I click it

Compressor does not submit job when used independently of FCP 7

OR when I SEND TO COMPRESSOR from FCP 7

I have tried both methods of adding the type of compression I want

#1. Going through the long drop down menus until I reach H.264.300kpbs

#2. Dragging and dropping the codec I want my file processed with

Any help would be very, very much appreciated

Do you have Qmaster setup by any chance? I find since enabling it that I have to export a self contained Qt file, shut FCP and then open Compressor if I want to use Qmaster to enable extra cores when encoding, particularly H264.

Then I can get it to work but not sending from FCP. I have FCP7 and SL.

Try toggling sharing off and on in the Qmaster Preference Pane before doing the export.

I have to turn sharing off then on like John says to get mine to work. It’s as if Qmaster fell asleep and I have to wake it up. Thought I was the only one this was happening to.

    Hello Steven,

I am facing the same issue you’re facing and I still haven’t found a solution to the problem? Did you manage to solve the problem?

    Thanks.

    Hi Ryan,

No I haven’t, my professor said it’s an issue with Snow Leopard. She said “NEVER EVER switch to a new OS version until you know how FCP is working with it.” She always up grades very late. By then she knows whats up with how the apps work with it. I got an i7 iMAC, it came with SL, so I didn’t have a choice. Articles on APPLE support said they will address the FCP issues in the fall. 🙁

I don’t know why the hell they can’t do that when they’re writing the code!
