FCP 7 Serial Number – Where can I find it????
Posted by Robert Nield on April 12, 2011 at 9:09 amI need to find out the Final Cut Pro serials for several machines. Finding the serials for FCP 6.0.6 is easy but FCP 7 is proving impossible. I have many install discs – but I don’t know what serial belongs to which FCP on what machine!
In FCP 7 there is no serial on the splash screen or in the box that pops up when you click “About Final Cut”. I have located the Final Cut Studio System ID but opening the unix file proves useless.
Anyone have any ideas?

How odd. I am running FCP 7.0.3 and my serial number DOES appear in the splash screen when launching Final Cut, and in the “About Final Cut Pro” box. In fact, the two are identical boxes.

April 13, 2011 at 12:58 amHello,
I too am seeing my serial number on my splash screen and in the “About” menu in FCP 7.0.3.
Are you perhaps using an educational version on all of your machines? Perhaps they don’t install or display serial numbers? I’m not 100% sure about that, though.

April 13, 2011 at 11:30 amI think Pat DeFilippo has hit the nail on the head. We have an education license so that is most likely why the serial doesn’t show up. Still doesn’t help my situation much, but at least I know why now. The search continues…
