  • FCP 7 crashing when even touching Motion templates

I have a copy of FCP 7 on OS X Yosemite.
Its has been working sweetly for 4 months now, including using Motion Templates for subtitles, lower thirds etc.
Yesterday I loaded a trail versions on FCP X so I can get to grips with it.
Now even when I touch the subtitles in FCP 7 it crashes. i can barely touch a timeline with a motion template on it.

any thoughts? Its driving me nuts!

    Many thanks in advance!

Well it’s obvious. It worked…then you installed FCX…then it didn’t work. FCX is interfering with it.

In order to have both FCX and FCP 7 (studio 3) on the same computer, you need to follow some specific steps:

too true, unfortunately all the instructions include firing up Motion 4, which i can’t do, because motion 4 does not work on OS X.
am hoping there are prefs i can change or folder structure I can change mutually.
Hoping to not have to uninstall FCP X, but looking like I may have to.

IMBW, but I think an Yosemite OS install breaks Motion 4 and leaves you only able to use motion 5, unless you set up dual boot partitions first. Or am I thinking of Compressor?
