  • FCP 7 changing the sequence name every time I paste a clip?

Posted by Matt Steeves on November 17, 2009 at 9:01 pm

FCP has started doing something this afternoon that I have never experienced. Every time I paste a clip into the sequence, it changes the sequence name to the name of the clip I pasted and adds a new sequence to the project. I cannot get it to stop. Does anyone have a clue as to what is causing this? I have been using FCP for 6 years and have never seen this.

A lot of people reported this here at the COW when ver7 first came out. I immediately upgraded to 7.0.1 and have not seen this behaviour so I assume it was fixed by the upgrade.

you might try just dragging the clip into the timeline instead of pasting. I’m on 7 and this doesn’t happen to me. you could try the good ol trashing the prefs.

Does it also happen when you use Overwright or Insert edit? ? because I also havn’t experienced this.

And I agree with Michael Gissing, upgrade your software. Usually takes out alot of bugs that Apple has found … or any software company.

Updating to 7.0.1 resolved the issue totally. Thanks!
