December 10, 2009 at 2:10 amAnyone figure this out? I’m capturing HDV from tape to the HDV codec…and the files have no extension. It’s not really too much of an issue, unless you want to import those files into Final Cut…the software doesn’t recognize them as valid video clips and won’t import…
I noticed something interesting today as I was using FCP Reconnect…there is a checkbox for “files don’t have .mov extension” so the guys who wrote this software made a workaround for this same issue we’re all having.

March 18, 2010 at 8:32 pmToday I had the same problem and nobody in the German FCP could help me.
I just repaired the user right with the disk disk service software and – STRIKE! – it works. Now FCP adds the suffix .mov to the clips in the directory during the capturing and the HDV capturing works with the regular logg-window with app. 3 MB per second (by using the Apple pro res codec the files are nearly 9 MB per sec., now the rendering is much more faster).

December 12, 2011 at 5:13 pmMake sure you have all of the latest updates to FCP. A fix to this problem was introduced a while back in an update.
