FCP 6.06 running with Snow Leopard

If you are unable to perform a clean and fresh install, I wouldn’t upgrade the OS. You’ll gain little in any event, and why would you want to do it when you don’t gain much…? i.e., If it’s not broken, don’t fix it.

A “real” upgrade would be to go to Studio 2009, and Snow Leopard done as a clean install.

Agreed. I ran 6.0.6 and 10.4.11 until I jumped to both FCS3 and SL with a complete clean install. ( I also upgraded my MacPro so I had the old G5 on the network to transfer files across).

There is nothing in SL to take advantage of with FCP 6 but a lot of potential problems with updating drivers. Lots of nice things in FCS3 so wait until you are not mid project and buy a new internal hard drive to do the OS & FCS3 install on.

After I posted my question I did a bit of research and most of the advise was to do a complete clean install.
So, as I am not having any problems with current set-up (Tiger 10.4 and FCS2) I guess I will hold off on Snow Leopard upgrade.

Cheers for that info Michael, I will wait until my finances warrant FCS3 upgrade and SL OS. I just thought it would be nice to have my Mac Pro up to date with OS etc. but it sounds like a lot of mucking about for not a lot of gain. Thanks again for your comments/help.
