Just installed the update directly from Apple.com that includes the 6.0.3 update. It installed successfully and then i proceeded to restart. Everything is good. I click FCP to fire it up and it only says version 6.0. I get it up and click on the About FCP, still says 6.0. How come it didnt get updated? i i have a file i did in 6.0.3 that i need to work on but i cant open it until i get the 6.0.3 installed, which i thought i did.

    PLEASE HELP!

BTW, i am new the forum, but have been visiting and getting help here for a LONG time. So thanks SOO much for everyones input. Its the best source for trustworthy information.

You need to install first the Pro Applications Update 2007-1

    Mac OX 10.5.2-FC 6.02-QT 7.4.1
    G5 2x2Gh 4GbRAM-BlackMagic Extreme
    PMBP 17″Core2Duo 4GbRAM-AJA ioHD
    JVC DTV-17″
    SONY EX-1 . SONY PD170
..and always a big mess on top of the table.

And, you have update Quicktime before that…

    Well,

I got the 2007-1 update and it says that my computer doesnt need it, assumingly because i already got the 2008-1 update. quicktime was already updated. IS there a way to UNinstall the 2008-1 update without having to reinstall FCP?

    Kenny,

May I ask, how are you getting these updates, on the Apple site, or are you using the update feature under the blue Apple in the upper left corner of OSX? If you’re not using the update feature, you probably should, as these updates all come in a very specific order. Plus, you need to keep running the upsater until you get a message that “all software is up to date.”

The Pro App Update 2008-1 is just FC6.03 and Compressor 3.0.3
You should have installed before the Pro App Upd 2007-1, the Pro KitUpdate and the Leopard Graphic Update and as David says, QT 7.4.
    Go to your System HD> Library> Receipts>
Set the window in “Column” and sorted by Date Modified.
Look for the Receipt “FinalCutPro6.0.3Update.pkg” . Delete all the receipts that have been installed at the same time than “FinalCutPro6.0.3Update.pkg”
Run “Shoftware Update” and see what your system needs.

Well, I came to my computer after working on the one that has the 6.0.3 update installed and plugged in the saved FCP file and got the error. So i checked my version against the other computer i was working on and they were different. mine was older. so, immediately, i clicked on the apple up at the top and clicked software update. “no updates available at this time”. Ok so i go to apple.com and download the quicktime 7.4.5 or whatever the latest version is (why it didnt show up in the updater, i dont know) and then proceed to download the 2008-1 Pro Apps updater directly from the Apple page.

So im stuck now until i get this resolved. I need the project done asap. my install dvds are 40 miles away and cant get to them until midweek.

GOT IT TO WORK! Since i am NEW to MACs, i didnt realize that Final Cut Pro application had to literally be in the Applications folder, not in the Final Cut Pro folder within Applications. So it finally updated and im good to go.

Thanks so much for all your help!!!!! I really appreciate it and some day i hope to be able to contribute like some you guys on here.

    Thanks again and God bless.
