    Hi Out There,
We have a weird fault in our rebuilt G4 running FCP Studio 2. It runs beatifully for 3 or 4 hours and then starts to slow down. Moving around the timeline or pressing play is delayed by several seconds instead of being instantaneous. The G4 ran beautifully on Studio 1 but with the upgrade something has gone wrong.

    The system is

    G4 Dual 1.25
    Mac OS 10.4.11
    2 Gig of RAM
ATI Radeon 9000 Pro Garphics Card
Black Magic Decklink SD Running 6.6.2

Its a very frustrating fault. Rebooting FCP seems to clear the fault for an hour or so and rebooting whole system slightly more so.

    Any help appreciated.

your system hasn’t got minimum requirement standards to run Studio 2.
    Go back to Studio 1
Even a G5 2.0 double processor with 8 GB Ram hits the minimum for Studio2
Best machinery is a quad core processor.

Thanks for that Rainer, you could well be right.
I’ve seen other posts where new machines seem to have the same problem and have blamed it on the Black Magic software and that turning off the video output (Apple F12) solves the problem. I’m going to try that before going back to Studio 1 even though I find it hard to believe that that the Black magic stuf would cause a problem. Its usually super reliable.
