hey guys i dont know if anyone else has had this problem but I am getting offline sequences to be re-captured in a hi-rez codec for compositing but for what ever reason FCP is asking for the original whole clip which is about 40 gigs when the clips in the sequences are a max of 4 or 5 seconds if anyone had any ideas that would be awesome cause im out of them haha thank you

I know the link below is for FCP 4.5, but that doesn’t matter.
Do what this link tells you and will have no problem uprezzing.

    Dan,

Thanks for the reference, but I’m experiencing the exact same problems and it seems to relate to FCP 6. We have a sequence started in 5.12, then media managed. Results are perfect. Take that same sequence, bring it into 6.0 and suddenly, a major percentage of the clips are not “Shedding” the unused media. No change to MM settings. Something is definitely going on here.

    I don’t have FCP6 yet so I can’t test it.
You may be correct that something isn’t right.
But in all previous versions since 4.0, the above suggestions worked.

I am seeing the same thing. From A FCP 6 project emailed and burned on CD to my FCP 6 I am not able to digitize just the clips not matter what I do even though FCP knows the correct TC I have to type in TC by hand.

It’s a bug alright, son of a bitch.

Wow, this is a pretty big bug, mistake, tragedy… whatever you want to call it.
Final Cut, what is it now….PRO ?

No upgrade for me until this is figured out. All my shows go from DV roughcut to
    uncompressed SD Digibeta finishing.
