    Hi,

Just finished up my first large job on FCP 6.01 and found a few problems. I was mixing 8 bit uncompressed with DV and found the DV playback jittery. I thought it was a field issue so I tried all the permutations on the shift field to no avail. While regular speed DV was usable, introduce any slo-mo to the dv in the uncompressed timeline and it was useless after rendering. My workaround was to export the clip to motion, change the speed there and re-import, this worked fine.

Also had some strange bugs when using the smoothcam filter (render files disappearing etc..)

My main concern is the dv problem??? (it works fine in a DV timeline but won’t mix with uncompressed….)

Anybody else in PAL land experience this??

    Thanks,

    Johnny

just a thought (and it might not help)
is the field dominace in the mixed timeline set to ‘none’? if yes could it be that therefor field order of source clips is ignored?
I just tried to drop a Pal dv clip into a pal 8 bit uncompressed timeline and the dv clip automatically received a shift -1 filed filter and plays fine.

    Thanks,

I’ll check the field dominance in the sequence settings. I tried all varietys of the shift field filter. Can you make the DV slowmo without getting crazy strobing???

    Thanks,

    Johnny

I only get crazy strobing when I switch off the -1 shift fields filter.
Though I can’t check on external monitor in the moment, only computer monitor.
don’t know why you’re having trouble?
